BMW has made an ultra-exclusive version of its M5. Only 50 units of the M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition will be made, and high-performance sedan is a US-only affair. The M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition car gets its name from its exclusive BMW individual paint. The special finish, described as BMW’s ‘most exclusive paint’, that contains hundreds of thousands of ultra thin aluminum flakes which give it a consistent gleam in the sun. Applying water-based paint is an extremely delicate process that requires a virtually perfect metal base surface and hours of the detailed handwork, BMW says.

For speed junkies, the most noteworthy updates are found by popping the 5’s long hood. The Pure Metal Silver edition cars is powered by an evolution of the standard M5’s dual-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that has been massaged to generate 600hp at 6,250 rpm and 516 pound-feet of the torque from 1,500 all the way up to 6,000 rpm. All power is channeled to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission controlled by shift paddles.

The Pure Metal Silver edition’s 7-cylinder makes 40 horses and 16 pound-feet of twist more than M5’s standard engine. As a result, this limited-edition model hits 60 mph from a stop in 3.9 sec — half a second faster than before — and it goes on to a top speed that has been raised to 190 mph.

M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition Exterior:

The M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition rides on special M 20-inch alloy wheels and also features a black kidney grille with M Performance exhaust with a carbon bezel and the M Competition package, which features a lowered stance and a firmer setup with spring damper systems and stabilizers.
